A FORCE FOR CONSERVATION OF WILDLIFE, WILD PLACES AND OUR WAY OF LIFE

FYI - This is a recommendation that Philippe Chardonnet and I succeeded in getting CIC to adopt in Paris last week which supports lion action plans and best hunting practices. Every lion in Niassa was six years of age or older.

The reconsideration of the denials of the seven test polar bear import permits have been denied for the same original reasons that are more definitively stated in this denial. We can now appeal to the Acting Director or file suit. We have it under review, but are inclined to file suit now in the District of Columbia where it may well be consolidated with the other polar bear cases - in which case, the documents attached are so strong and convincing that they may well help persuade the trial judge that some populations should not have been listed, the polar bears' conservation status will be worsened by the listing and the listing has disrupted Canada's program.
